How to submit a Tax file number declaration
An employee Tax file number declaration can be submitted manually or as part of a Single Touch Payroll lodgment.
The following process shows the steps involved:
- Issue the employee with a Tax file declaration form and have them complete and return the form
- Edit the employee's record in the Accentis Enterprise Employee form and:
- Enter the relevant details, including the employee Tax File Number
- Enter the date the employee signed the Tax file number declaration into the “Date signed” field
If you are submitting the Tax file number declaration manually
- Tick the TFN declaration has been reported to ATO field
- Submit the Tax file number declaration form via your usual ATO channels
If you are submitting the Tax file number declaration via a Single Touch Payroll lodgment
- Ensure the TFN declaration has been reported to ATO field is left UNTICKED.
- When you lodge the employee’s next pay run via Single touch payroll, the employee’s Tax file number declaration will be sent as part of the lodgment. Note: You do not have to have send employee data to the ATO prior to the employee’s pay run
- If you are using Accentis Server v6.17.17 or greater, the TFN declaration has been reported to ATO field will be automatically ticked for the employee when the lodgment is accepted.
- If you are using an earlier version of Accentis Server, return to the employee record once the pay run lodgment is accepted and tick the TFN declaration has been reported to ATO field.
If you submit a Tax file number declaration via Single Touch Payroll, you do not need to send the signed tax declaration form you collected from your employee to the ATO.
